Maid Marian's Bed and Breakfast was built in 1918 by May Dot Shoemaker. She was a widow with four children (Helen, Oscar, Geneva, and Fern). May was married in 1908 and her husband George passed away in 1917. It was meant to be a boarding house for out of town children during the school week. With all of her children in school, Dot went back to teaching. She tested to be certified at the age of 15 but her parents made her wait until she was 17 to actually begin teaching. She taught in near-by towns and the kids went along. When they were away, she rented out the house. When they returned, she spent the rest of her life in the house. Oscar lived here with her.

The current owners are Bill and Marian VanGrinsven. Marian has a charm for antiques and Bill is a gifted carpenter. Together, they have restored these "old" houses and are excited to share their history with you.
